As soon as I found out that we were having a baby girl I couldn't wait to decorate a nursery for her. Little did I know it is really hard to find cute bedding at a decent price. Everything that I liked was over $500 and that was obviously over my price range. So I had to get creative because I didn't want to settle with something that I didn't love. I went to the fabric store and found some that I loved. Then I googled and read everything I could on making crib bedding and it turned out to be a lot easier than I thought. We (my amazing mom helped) made the crib skirt, pillow for the chair, and pad for the changing table. I bought a white bumper and cut off the ties and sewed on fabric ties to match. Then my sweet sis jess made a quilt to match everything. I still have a lot of work to do ie something on the walls but we are working on it. It is not finished but this is what we have so far...

I know I am very lucky to say that so far I have enjoyed being pregnant. I really haven't been sick just a little nausea here and there and a lot of heartburn. I am in love with the feeling of her swimming around and yesterday we saw her move from the outside and I am dying to see it again. My bellybutton is quickly getting more and more shallow, and it is getting harder to get dressed and find something that actually looks decent. I have four months until she arrives and a whole lot to do to get ready, (and I don't really even know what it is that I need to do...).

Our sweet little baby is now the size of an avocado. I feel like lately all I can think about is babies... this weekend I got to hold precious baby Max, we watched the movie Babies (yes, WE jeff watched it with me isn't he the best?) and my doctor offers a sex check ultrasound for an extra fee and we thought we could be patient and wait three more weeks but I am getting pretty anxious and may call tomorrow to set up an appointment.

August marked three years of being married. I feel so lucky to have such an amazing husband. I love him so much and he makes me so happy! It seams like lately we have both been so busy that any time we get together is golden. We spent our anniversary in Houston. We went downtown to a recommend sushi restaurant (thank you Ryan and Mandy) then went to an Astro’s game.

I have loved the past three years and I can’t wait to see what our future will hold for us!

Grocery shopping

I am aware that this is a little nerdy but I love to go grocery shopping. There is something very relaxing about taking your time strolling down the aisles. I find it really rewarding being about to start at one side of the store and work to the other side then check out, not having to go back and get anything that I forgot. Ha I know weird.

I had a wonderful 23rd birthday thanks to my sweet husband. He woke up early & made me waffles with homemade syrup, wrote me the sweetest letter, and gave me the cutest Betsey Johnson bag! Also my dad dressed up like the Burger King and came to my class and brought them all french fries ha ha it was a fun day. As I was somewhat thinking about my short 23 years I couldn't help but to be grateful for so many things, here are a few:

It's our family tradition to stay up in Salt Lake at Christmas time and see the lights on temple square. This year we woke up early on Sunday morning went to the Spoken Word at the conference center. It really awesome I am glad we went!

I have had a to do list a mile long to get ready for this week at school. Today I was able to cross off most of my list and I finally feel like I can enjoy this crazy Halloween week.

Wednesday- Dress up and celebrate Halloween at school. Then go to Michael Jackson THIS IS IT with my G-ma Money and sisters.

Thursday- Parent Teacher Conference all night.. dun dun dun...

About every three weeks I make my way two blocks south to the Provo City Library to check out new books for my classroom. Tonight I checked out books about the Solar System and my favorite of the whole year, fall and Halloween books! There is something about this time of year I absolutely love! Being a teacher lets me be even more in love with the season. This week we have been decorating our classroom, painting pumpkins, cutting out leaves for the bulletin board boarders, and painting haunted houses. When I was at the library getting the seasonal books a lady insisted that it is a library rule to check out no more than 5 seasonal books at a time. Well me being a crazy rebel snuck 10 books past her ha ha ha.

This summer we were able to go on an amazing trip to New York with my family. It started off pretty exciting... ha we took the red eye flight there and since we were planning on getting there at 10 am and starting our busy day my dad thought it would be a good idea for the whole family to take some "strong" sleeping pills for the flight. It was a great idea but we encountered a few side effects. (warning this is kind of gross...sorry) Jeff started seeing things and acting weird then he snookered out. The rest of us also slept like babies then it was time to get off the airplane....Lisa was in front of me and i saw her start throwing up everywhere then i turned to the empty seat near me and i started spewing all over the poor seat. Then we stumbled off the plane to catch our connecting flight in Atlanta. Well let me tell you, we were all half asleep and I do not remember a single thing about that airport except as Lisa and I entered the plane with a sick bag in our hands the flight attendant asked really loud "Did those girls drink a little too much last night?"

So our trip was off with a bang. We got into New York City and checked into our hotel, the Marriot Marque, in the heart of Time Square. The hotel alone was amazing but Time Square was also pretty sweet. While we were in the city we went to a Yankee game at the new stadium, Cannal Street, The Little Mermaid on broadway, Central Park, and ate a whole lot of pizza.

Then we rented a car and drove upstate New York to Cooperstown where Jason had a baseball tournament. It was the cutest little town. All of the houses in town where close together with white pickets fences. We stayed in a house a little outside of town. It was a big white farm house. We stayed there with our family friends the Bennetts. We spent our time there watching a lot of baseball. While we were there we also went to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. It didn't mean much to me, but jeff Loved it!!

After the tournament ended we drove to Niagra Falls which was one of my favorite parts of the trip. Words can't describe how amazing it was! We went of the Maid of the Mist which took us into the center of the falls. We stood on that dinky little boat in awe of the HUGE waterfalls!

Last thing we did was went to Palmyra to visit the church sites. While we were there we were able to go the the Hill Commorah Pagent which was a huge production. The play was a run through of the BOM stories, they had sweet special effects including fire and water. Then we went to Joseph Smiths house and the Sacred Grove.

Jeff and I really needed a new camera, so after shopping around we got a really sweet one! I am super excited to start taking pictures again! Last Sunday we went on a bike ride and ended up having a little photo shoot, ha we are good at entertaining ourselves. Here are a few of the pictures.

What we have been up to do lately.

1. I graduated college.

2. I finished my first year of teaching. The last day was such a bitter sweet day. So exciting to be done and have a full summer ahead but so sad to leave my kids that I got so attached to. As i was hugging them all good bye I was a crying mess and most of the kids were too.

3. We made a very last minute trip to California. I got to see Simi Valley where jeff grew up and got to meet his old friends he hadn't seen since before his mission. We also went to the beach a few times and went to the Dodger game.

4. For graduation my parents bought me a MacBook. I love it but am not sure how to do a lot of things on it yet.

5. For graduation jeff and I bought ourselves beach cruisers!

So i have some great news. I have been completely stressed out about getting a job for next year. There have been a record number of people applying for teaching positions, each opening has had at least 70 people apply. I ended up getting three interviews and the principal at spanish oaks came and observed me. It all went really well, and the next day the principal offered me a job! The great part is that it is third grade, the same grade i am teaching right now. That will hopefully make next year a bit easier than this year.
With this whole thing i have been really stressed and have been getting home late and jeff has been like a rock studying for finals and has been living in the library until late at night. So my sweetie got thursday off work and we went to the tulip festival at thanksgiving point. It was really beautiful and relaxing. It was exactly what i needed.

Top Ten reasons why I am so excited it is spring:

1. This warm weather! I love nothing more than driving with my sun roof open and sunglasses on.

2. Two and half months of school left, with a spring break thrown in there.

3. St. George. This weekend we are going down with my family and the temperature will be 80 I can't wait to go swimming and lay out!

4. Play tennis. Jeff and I got tennis rackets this fall and only got to play a few times, and bonus the BYU tennis courts and are in our backyard.

5. BBQ s, the house that we live in has a little patio and backyard and makes for a perfect dinner outside.

6. Jeff will soon have another semester under his belt and he his doing really well in his classes so we are both really excited.

7. Camping. If you have known me for a long time this probably seams very strange, but since we have been married we have had so much fun camping with our friends that I now love it! ( but not for longer than 1 or 2 nights ha ha I'm not that tough.)

8. Moab. This goes with the one above. Last spring we went to Moab and hiked all around and it was so much fun, I can't wait to go again.

9. The house we live in has a yard and I am so excited to take care of it and plant lots of flowers.

10. Baseball. If you know Jeff you know that he LOVES baseball. This year he and his buddies are playing on a league and I can't wait to go to all of his games!

The biggest reason I love spring is because it means summer is coming!!!

These are some of the reasons why I love being a teacher... 1. I love that everyday brings a new adventure. I never find myself watching the clock, like i have done at other jobs. The day flies by. 2. It keeps me extremely busy, that is a plus and a minus. I find that i am the happiest when i am busy. 3. I have all nights and weekends off. ( and soon to be the summer, can't wait!) 4. I get to be my own boss. I decide, to an extent, how we spend the day. I have the freedom to make a lesson extremely boring or spice it up and have a lot of fun. 5. It is a lot of hard work but I can see it paying off. It is all worth it when they do well on a test or move up a reading level. 6.I am no where near the teacher i want to become. I am so lucky to work with great teachers that teach me everyday. I think i have learned more than the kids, and i can't wait to learn more and become a better teacher.
Here are some funny things that have happened this week at school. 1. "Mrs. Davies look how flexible I am..." On the icy asphalt she continues to lay belly down and pull her feet up by her ears. 2. Two girls come in after recess, one with a bag of ice on her newly pierced ear and the other with ice on her head. I asked what happened and some how the back of the the one girls earing dug into the other girls forehead. They are the two drama queens of the class. The one with a forehead was fine after i gave her a band aid to put on her 'wound'. 3. Limping. This last week i have had three different kids 'get hurt' and need to limp. One girl kept forgetting what leg she hurt and kept switching off the leg she was limping with. The boy knelt on piece of sharp ice and so he limped all day. Keep in mind that this is the same boy that was convinced that his knee cap was broken cause he could straighten his leg and move his knee cap all around. 4. At the end of the day we clean up the floor. I saw one boy pick up something red put it in his mouth then take it out again and said "nope not food" then kept on his way. This is the same boy that eats paper. Like a corner of his papers are usually missing. 5. This is something funny that happened at the first of the year. My students kept asking when they would get to meet my husband. I told them that it would be hard for him to come because he has school everyday. Then later on in the week a boy that is obsessed with football kept telling me a bunch of football stuff i really didn't care about so i told him to save it and when Jeff came he could tell him all about it. Then he said, " I thought he couldn't come because he is in high school." No i am not married to a boy in high school. 6. My favorite thing this week was, I left some pipe cleaners on the back table and i was working with someone and I turned around and half the class had made ear pieces and head sets out of the pipe cleaners. I felt like i was running a call center or something. I had to try so hard not to laugh it was so cute.

Well fall has officially flown right on by, its pretty much Christmas season! My favorite time of the year! We are so lucky to live in a semi house/duplex. Last year we lived in our little apartment and had no where to put up Christmas lights. Well we have put up lights that i might describe as a bit obnoxious but i love them! Those of you that know my dad you know that he is a fanatic when it comes to Christmas anything and his specialty is Christmas lights. He helped us put up our lights. I was deciding on how many lights to put on the bushes and my dad leaned over to me and said "al its not about the quality but its about the quantity of your lights" Needless to say our house is really bright.
I can't truly be Christmas season without thanksgiving first, and more importantly thanksgiving break! I can not wait to have three days off of school. I am loving teaching but it is so much work it wears me out, and maybe i will actually get to see jeff. With both of our crazy schedules i never get to see him, i hate it! I'm Back

Well lets just say that since the last time I left a post life has gotten a lot more crazy!!! I have started teaching school and I LOVE it! Seriously it is so much fun.
Jeff is going to school full time and taking some dreadful science classes. And he is working as a dental assistant and at outback every once and awhile. So yes we are both busier than ever!
This weekend we went camping with a lot of our fun friends. The mountains are so pretty right now, fall time is my favorite. The leaves are beginning to change and it is starting to cool down. Saturday morning we got up and hiked to the grotto. Here are some pictures from the hike.

So I less than a month until i start teaching! I am getting so so so excited! i have been having so much fun decorating my classroom and getting ready. Today my mom and i went to ikea and i got some really cute things for my room! once it is up i will take some pictures. I am so lucky to have such a great mom to help me with everything. It helps that she is a kindergarten teacher and knows all the 'teacher tricks'. The next month is going to be kind of crazy! In the next month i will have quit my job(hallelujah), be done with college, move apartments, and started teaching! Its so much fun i can't wait!

One Lucky Girl

So three years ago from today jeff and i started dating! For those of you that don't know how we meet let me fill you in. we meet at such a romantic place...there were candles, roses you name it..just kidding. totally opposite actually. Good ole Joe's Crab Shack! When we met he was wearing a shirt that said "got crabs?" ha and i still fell in love. I am so lucky to be married to him I love him so much! I am forever grateful to Joe's Crab Shack.

This summer so far has been crazy busy!!!I have been going to school and working both full time. Jeff has been going to school and working as well. I feel like time has been on fast forward I can't believe it is July already! I only have four weeks left of summer school and working, then I will start school workshops and teaching! I got the keys to my classroom so i can start setting everything up. It is so much fun planning bulletin boards, my reading center and a ton of other things. I am pretty much freaking out about it, but still excited.
A few weekends ago Jeff and I went to Vegas. He went to an dental conference at UNLV. He loved it. There were a lot of speakers there and he did some lab work. He was able to make molds of teeth and fill fillings and stuff like that. It is all very artistic and he is good at that type stuff so i think he will really enjoy it! Since he was at the conference Friday and Saturday from 8-5 I had to entertain myself. Luckily our friends Chris and Chelsea were on their way to California at the same time. So Friday i spent the day at the pool with them. It was really fun! But man was it HOT! It was about 110 the whole time and it felt a lot hotter! At night we walked the strip and we ate at the Cheesecake Factory. so good! It was a fun, quick little get away.

Jeff and I were among the first of all of our friends to get married. This is fun because now we get to sit back and wait for some of our best friends to get hitched. Fortunatly three of our very good friends have decided to tie the knot this summer and we couldn't be more excited for them! I want to give a quick tribute to our engaged friends and their future spouses!

Chris and Chelsea Andelin
Jeff has known Chris since he was in jr. high and has been really good friends with him ever since. I first met Chris when he was moving here from California to live with Jeff and his friends. At first i was really intimidated by him just by the way all of his friends talked him up and loved him. Turned out that he was a really down to earth fun guy and we quickly became friends. Most of the time I have known Chris he has been in love with warcraft...now he has a much better love. Chelsea! They are so cute together. They will be married August 15!

Sarah and Chad Johanson
After i graduated high school i went to the University of Utah and lived in Salt Lake. One of the first classes i took was a dance class. Sarah was in my class. I remember we were both stretching (neither of us very flexible) and we looked at each other and started laughing. Later that same week we found out we were in the same sorority 'XI'. We just clicked and instantly became really good friends. We have a lot of things in common and have a lot of fun together. We were able to go to New York together for about week. We bought honestly about ten bags each at Canal Street and went site seeing it was such a fun trip. She was one of my bridesmaids and I will be one of hers this august! She is marrying a wonderful guy and i couldn't be happier for the two of them!!!

I have been friends with Jake ever since i started dating Jeff. Jake is always down for a good time. Some fun things we have done with him are longboarding, camping, snowboard/skiing, and a lot more random things. I got to know Diana when we went to Moab with the two of them. We had so much fun exploring and camping. They are a really great couple! Congratulations!!!

Last weekend we went on a last minute trip to Moab with our friends Jake and Diana. I hadn't been to Moab since I was little and didn't remember how beautiful and fun a place it is. Jeff had never been and Jake is an avid Moab goer so he was our tour guide. We got to Moab Saturday evening and hiked to Arches just in time for the sun set. The timing couldn't have been more perfect! We had an awesome camping spot. The next day we woke up hiked up this cool river that lead into a big freezing pool of water we had to swim through then it lead to this really cool water fall that had a rock slide on it. It was so hot that day so the cold water felt really good. Then we went to this place called the "Indian ladder" it was a giant crack in the cliff that the Indians had wedged sticks in so they could climb up it. Well we climbed up it and honestly it was one of the scariest things I have ever done. It is very claustrophobic because there is rock surrounding you while you climb. It was one of those things that is a lot more fun after you have done it and not while you are doing it. Then we ate at a cute little Mexican restaurant in town for dinner, and then went on another awesome hike. We packed so much in 24 hours. It was an awesome weekend! We want to go back soon

One of the last nights before our friends Chuch and Julie moved to Atlanta we had a party and went camping. We just went up Provo canyon. It was fun to cook dinner over the fire and make smores. Summer May Never Come

To start off with some exciting news tomorrow is my last final (that I should be studying for right now but can't concentrate) then I don't have school for 5 whole days...whoopee. Then I start summer school. With the internship I will be taking all of my senior classes over the summer which it will be nice to have them done but in return they will be taking my summer captive. And the worst part about is that won't be able to teach swimming lessons this summer because of my time commitment with school. It shouldn't be too bad; I just have class Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30 to 1:00. So at least I will be able to fit in some quality pool time. Jeff will be taking summer school as well so at least we can suffer together.

Monday I went to my first faculty meeting. It became reality that I really will be teaching as I saw my future classroom (that I am so excited to decorate, and it has a window), and as I found out that I have to hold a back to school night where just the parents will come in to the classroom and I will tell them what will be going on in the school year, not going to lie that freaked me out! Imagine little me in front of the classroom with a bunch of scary overprotective parents. It is all so crazy but I couldn't be more excited to start teaching. It is going to be a tough year but I’m tough I think I can handle it.

I am officially OUT OF SHAPE!!! While watching the new episode of Desperate Housewives I decided that I want a body like Eve Longoria...I know a long shot but a girl can dream big. She has the perfect little body. So since it was nice weather today I made jeff go run with me. Well let’s just say he is in better shape than I am... I got so tired. In high school I was in such good shape and could run forever with out getting tired so I assumed that I couldn't have changed that much but I have. So as Jeff's patience with me turned into frustration I told him to run on with out me. That is when I decided I have a lot of work ahead of me! I just got the best news ever! I will be a third grade teacher at Foothills Elementary in Salem this coming fall. I will have my very own grown up job!!!! I have wanted to be a teacher ever since I was little. I used to make my sisters play school with me and I would be the teacher. I have been teaching swimming lessons for the past three summers and have LOVED it! And that is what solidified my decision to become a teacher. AH I can hardly wait to get started!

Red Heads

So with the news of our recent redheaded nephew being born, we decided to figure out the probability of our kids having red hair. at worst we have a one out of 4 chances that our kids will turn out with red hair. but, however this is highly unlikely due to the fact that both us don't have any physical evidence of us having red hair (ie. freckles, actual red hair, white skin, etc...) but with this information, it is possible that our kids may receive the red hair gene and not actually have it. so their kids may have red hair and that would be fine by us. this is posted due to the criticism of josh, jake, and chuck. thanks guys for being our friends.

February has been the month for weddings. Two of Jeff's really good friends got married Chris Helematolor and Jason Hanson. We were lucky enough to go to Chris's wedding ceremony and luncheon. The whole wedding was beautiful and it was fun to go to a wedding, the last one we were at was our own. Also two of my good girl friends from my cohort at school got married, AnneMarie and Corrine. We are excited to have more married friends!

On February 10 we have been married for six months!! It has gone by so fast I can't even believe it. It has been so much fun. Some of our favorite things to do together are to go snowboarding (when we can make time), rent TV series and become totally addicted (Lost and Desperate Housewives so far, I’m trying to get him into Grey's but I think that’s a stretch) work out in our little gym, make fun of each other, go shopping at IKEA and Costco, hang out with our favorite little nephew Boston, cook together, hang out with our friends, Color Me Mine and the list goes on and on...

Jeff and I have been so busy with school. I am in the Elementary Education program and loving it. I am on track to have classes next fall and student teach spring then graduate next April. I have the opportunity to apply to be an Intern. It is very competitive but I am really hoping I get it. They only take 32 girls. If I do I will take all my senior credits over the summer, so I basically wouldn't have a summer :(, but then I could start teaching this fall. I would have my own classroom and be a regular teacher. The only down side to it is that I would only get paid half salary but would get full benefits which is nice. I apply in March and will find out in April, I am really excited about and really hope I can get it!!!

The month started off wonderfully by Jeff's mom sending us conference tickets to the Sunday afternoon session. We went with Jeff's sister Rylie and her friend Brian. It was a beautiful fall day!

A fabulous thing about UVSC is that they have not only a spring break but a fall break also! Love Uvsc. Because of the break we decided to was about time for a quick vacation, meaning an overnighter in Park City. We stayed in a hotel near the outlet mall. When we were shopping we kept seeing the biggest shoes! It was so hilarious! So we took pictures of them. Jeff is wearing size 17 Nike's that I think were made for Shaq, and I found a pair of size 16 vans, I would love to see the man or woman that could fit into these shoes!

On our drive home the red leaves were so pretty and I wanted a couple so after some "persuading" jeff pulled over and got me some! I pressed them then framed them, such a homemaker wanna be. ha

We did some fun Halloween stuff, my friend Sarah came down from Salt Lake with her boyfriend Chad and we made carmel apples, then one night our friends Chuck and Julie came over and we carved pumpkins, it was my first time ever. On Halloween we went to my families annual party. We dressed up like Harry Potter and Hermione. It was a hit!
(and yes Jeff's glasses make him look mildly cross eyed.)

Red Socks

Jeff's favorite part of October is the baseball world series. This year especially because the Red Socks were in it. And I have to admit I got into it too. They won the whole series!

Quick Update

Here is a quick update of everything going on. Jeff and I have been going a 100 mph with school and work. I am in the Elementary Education program at UVSC. It is a lot of work but I really enjoy it! Part of the program is that we get to go to a school for three weeks to teach and observe. We go in partnerships and have to teach five lessons on our own. I am assigned to Foothills Elementary in Salem to a 6th grade class. My partner, Sandy, and I met our teacher yesterday. She seams really on top of everything. After our little meeting we concluded that we will teach everyday for three weeks for a half an hour! It may not seam like a lot but it will be a lot of preparatory work! And we have to teach about ancient Egypt, which i know nothing about. What I am excited about is the teacher wants us to do a lot of art projects on Egypt. I can't wait!
Jeff is taking a lot of really hard classes and he is doing really well in them. He always has a lot more homework than I do. He is working on starting a club at UVSC. He wants to base it on fantasy sports (of course) with a business twist. He has some friends he is doing it with, and I might get to be the treasurer or something! Ha I'll keep you updated on that. oh and we got cable! With DVR and I am loving it!

Being married is the best! There is nothing like it, and I know this might seam crazy but i still keep liking Jeff more and more! Ha last week was his birthday and we had a party at our new apartment for him. And people actually came! (Thanks for coming!) I told my mom we were having a party and she laughed and asked "who is going to go? Just you two?" thanks mom. But people came and it was really fun! His best birthday present/my present was a flat screen T.V.! (thanks to many target gift cards and Jeff's b-day money) Ever since we moved in and talked about furniture we had to buy he kept throwing in so...what about a flat screen??? We would both laugh and think it was the most frivolous thing a newly wed couple could buy. But we had a lot of gift cards from the wedding that helped a ton! What is really funny is since we bought a big t.v. we cant afford cable so we are slowing moving through our movie collection ha ha. Livin on LOVE...

My best friend Kate Lehnhof left the country today. She is the reason for me starting this blog. We have been inseperable since the sixth grade. So her being in Jerusalem is going to be hard on both of us. She has started a blog also to record her adventures and I will try to record my adventures as well as a newly married woman. Hopefully this will help us be clued in on each other even if we are on oppisite sides of the world!
